Magnet Wall for under $150
I REALLY wanted a magnetic wall.. but if you read reviews on magnetic paint, you will learn that it simply does not work. Benjamin Moore even stopped selling it because of the flop-factor. So what's a girl (who likes to change out family photos all the time) to do?
So I thought, "hey self, what else is magnetic?" "Steal is magnetic!" And off to the hardware store I went -magnet in hand (to test it out).
*If you'd like to do a shot every time I use the word magnetic, this post will be even more fun.*
This wall cost $150 complete and took me less than an hour to do BY MYSELF. No cutting, no power tools SO EASY! Want to know how?
All you need is (1) some flat strips of steal. They can be found at the hardware store with the bulk bolts and range from $6 to $20 each. They come in different lengths and widths so you could be super symmetric and consistent or a little more organic like mine (symmetric involves a lot more measuring and mapping). Also, (2) a tube of silicone, (3) painter's tape and (4) a level.
1) Map out your design by making itty bitty marks on the wall.
2) Silicone the back of your steal.
3) Put the strips in place and double check they are level. Then tape overnight.
Yup. That's it! Once the silicone has cured the tape can come off and the magnets can go on. TA DA!
